Deborah Jaouen grew up in a beach town on the Florida “Space Coast”. She studied painting and printmaking and earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of California in Santa Barbara. Later she lived in Europe, working as a plein air painter.  Many years on a sailboat in the Caribbean as well as life in Hawaii and Central America have lent a tropical accent to her work. Jaouen returned to the United States several years ago, first settling in her native California, then relocating to coastal Virginia where she draws inspiration from the serenity and wildlife. She currently works in mixed media  and assemblage. Jaouen's work is found in collections in Europe, the Caribbean and the U.S
